Safeguarding Curriculum
Our Safeguarding Curriculum at Newton Primary School focuses on helping pupils understand how to keep themselves safe in all areas of their lives. Through structured lessons and activities, children learn about personal safety, including how to recognise risks, make safe choices, and ask for help when needed. Topics include online safety, road safety, understanding consent, managing friendships, and recognising and responding to potentially unsafe situations.
Our Safeguarding Education is age-appropriate and carefully integrated alongside programmes such as PATHS and RSE. Pupils are taught practical strategies for staying safe, both in school and in the wider community, and develop the confidence to protect themselves and others. This approach helps children build resilience, awareness, and the ability to make responsible decisions in everyday situations.
By providing clear guidance, discussions, and real-life scenarios, Newton Primary ensures that pupils understand their own safety and the importance of respectful relationships. The programme supports the development of confident, informed, and responsible young people who can navigate the challenges of growing up safely and independently.
