PATHS
PATHS Golden Rule: Treat others how you want to be treated.
Promoting Alternative THinking Strategies (PATHS)
At Newton, we prioritise the emotional well-being of our children by integrating the PATHS programme into our daily activities. Developed by Barnardo’s, PATHS helps children build essential social and emotional skills, empowering them to make positive choices throughout their lives.
Background
Children arrive at school with unique personalities, interests, and skills, and come from a variety of backgrounds. They may have experienced different challenges at home or in their communities, which can impact their mental health. Some may face risk factors, while others may have protective factors that help them build resilience and coping strategies.
PATHS has been shown to improve:
Classroom Behaviour
Self-Esteem
Self-Control
Emotional Intelligence
Academic Engagement
Conflict Resolution
PATHS has been shown to reduce:
Emotional Distress
Aggressive Behaviour
Conduct Problems

How can you help your child?
